what is dilemma

Forced choice between two (or more) courses of action which are equally disfavored or favored. For example, a choice between debt (which has to be paid back with interest and on schedule, but which generally does not affect owners' control of the business) and equity (which does not have to be paid back but may result in dilution or loss of control to outsiders). Dilemma 1

Two young  men brothers, had got into serious trouble. They were secretly leaving town in a hurry and needed money . Karl, the older one, broke into a store and stole a thousand dollars. Bob, the younger one, went to a retied old man who was known to help people in town . He told the man that he was very sick and that he needed a thousand dollars to pay for an operation . Bob asked the old man to lend him the money and promised that he would pay him back when he recovered. Really Bob wasn’t sick at all , and he had no intention of paying the man back . Although the old man didn’t know Bob very well , he lent him the money . So Bob and Karl skipped town , each with a thousand dollars .

1-    Cheating like Bob.
    - Because Bob exploitation the old man feeling .
2-    I believe that Bob used merciful of old man .
-Because he didn’t steal his money he steal his felling.
3-    The man should keep the promise due to one day he will need a help from people .
4-    Yes
-         Be flexible from ethics keep promises between people and also you will feel comfortable.
5-    Because, the steal still wrong and it will effect the community or society.
6-    It’s the important rights that give the person all rights on some things .
7-    Yes
-         Because the law is the parent is of all of us , everyone should follow his parents .
8-    No
-         1. Exploitation
2. And the another side give him promise
3. Also the old man aware of his action

Dilemma 2

teacher

you have a student who is from a single parent family. The student must work to attend college. However, the job is interfering with the student's performance and several assignments have not been turned in. You have determined that a "D" is all the student can make when a counselor informs you the student need "C" to qualify for an academic scholarship.

what do you do ?

As a teacher, I have to be fair to all my students. That would my primary motivation. However, the mentioned scenario can referred to as a dilemma. This dilemma is centered on the situation of giving the student an extra chance would conflict with being fair and unbiased to the rest of the class, and vice versa. However, there is a possible way that can overwhelm this problem. As a teacher, I would offer an ‘optional’ extra credit to all the students. This extra credit can be homework or a paper. Not all students are obligated to perform this task, while on the other hand, the student that needs the grade of C can finish it and therefore avoid jeopardizing his/her scholarship. At the same time, that ‘extra chance’ was provided to everyone else in the class, not specifically to that one student who needed it. The moral basis of this decision was the desire to be helpful to all my students and, at the same time, to be ‘equally’ supporting. Situations such as this dilemma are very difficult to cope with and simultaneously keeping some standards constant. Nevertheless, one of my duties as I teacher is to talk to student individually to go over the problem in deep details so that I make sure this never happens again wether in my class or other classes. I will try to plant values such as discipline, honesty and hard work. In my opinion, the previous point is more important than the original issue. Solving the origins of the problem will be more effective than solving the problem itself.
